Co-hosting of the Scoliosis and Flat Feet Assessment Programme (Highlights)

Activities

We are delighted to share that our President, Mr. Kenneth Au-Yeung, along with Executive Committee Members, Ms. Sheila Yip, Dr. Tiffany Choi and Ms. Mandy Dai, visited Yuen Long Public Middle School Alumni Association Primary School (元朗公立中學校友會小學) this morning to co-host the “Scoliosis and Flat Feet Assessment Programme”.

Before the assessments, our team delivered an engaging educational talk to nearly 190 Primary 1 and 2 students, highlighting the importance of good posture and spinal health. This initiative aimed to raise awareness from an early age and empower children with knowledge to support their physical well-being.

In Hong Kong, the Student Health Service typically screens children for scoliosis around age 10 or in Primary 5. However, HKPU physiotherapists believe in the value of early detection. That’s why we arranged this comprehensive screening programme — covering spine, flat feet, posture, balance, and core stability — for nearly 190 young students. A dedicated team of 7 registered physiotherapists and 17 physiotherapy students participated in this meaningful outreach.

The event was a great success and a powerful demonstration of how physiotherapists can contribute to primary care. 🏆

We look forward to organizing more events like this to promote public awareness of spinal health and early intervention. 🎯
